Im looking at getting a scanner! I was looking at the Uniden BCT996XT and Uniden Home Patrol! I want to listen to anything I can! I want to get the best that I can! Both units are around $500! I would like to keep it around that unless there is something better for the $$$. BCT996XT has alot of nice featurer! There's alot u can do with it! The Home Patrol is kinda basic I thought! But the unit is very sharp! I want get wats best for the money! So any advice would be very helpfull! Pros and Cons of these products if u have them or any other good ones out there!

Any new ones that coming out in 2011?

Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Radio Shack is having a blowout sale on the Pro-106 handheld and Pro-197 base/mobile digital P25 trunking scanners by GRE. If you're not exclusively a Uniden type, these are both good units though they don't have the ability to use the GPS and are a couple years older.

I have a PSR 600, the same as a Pro-197. I just got a Uniden HomePatrol. The HomePatrol is very nice but is a different type scanner than the PSR 600. If you are going to keep the scanner at home, the PSR 600 is hard to beat. If you want to travel, or go from home to the office the HomePatrol is the one to get. If Radio Shack is going to lower the price, the Pro-197 might be the best deal.

My suggestion, and I have 3 RS scanners, is the 996XT. More memory and more modes. The only thing that is better on the GRE/RS models is the digital P-25 audio.
