I have a new account and was able to download a couple scanner archive files. They have no file extension and appear to be XML or something like that. How do you play them? Is there some kind of software?

When you select a feed, then go to it's page, you can access the Archives.
Once you select the date & time, you get a page like this (I only snipped the center area):
If you try to save that entire webpage, then you get a file that you can't play.
Instead, look at the arrow and text below that (I highlighted the text).
If you use that download link, then you'll get an mp3 (audio file), which any number of apps, including Windows Media Player, can play.

Now on tablet and there is no way to access archives. So this is only allowed from computers not mobile devices?
