Go on Kenwood

Last night I went to appleby station, in both directions the door operator (I know there is a more appropriate name) who works out of the 5th car where using kenwood radios. I'm not familiar with the brand, so I couldn't identify a specific model, but I though they were using the xts2500?

Anyone know why they would be using these.

The Kenwood radios are for VHF usage on the train.

I have seen GO people using XTS1500, XTS2500 and XTS5000 radios.

Also, was on a bus this morning in Hamilton - it shows "South West Ops" on the radio.
