Can sometimes get YWA here on a analog AM portable by tuning all the way down to the low end on the AM dial.
As kids my brother and I used to fool with those cheap air capacitors on AM radios and then would hear a few beacons just below the AM band. We thought we were working magic hi hi.

Good to read that your FRG-100 works well for NDB hunting! Do you have an optional narrow filter in the CW slot or are you using the stock SSB filter? I have an old stock FRG-100 still factory sealed (the CRF-1 is great on LW so I haven't been in any hurry to open it) but did pick up an Inrad 1000 herz filter for NDBs when I get to it.

pjxii, I use the stock filter when NDB hunting.

Ahhhh, the Sony CRF-1...my dream radio....saw one in person years ago and kneeled with head bowed in it's presence. Enjoy LW!

Yesterday from 1218 - 1231 UTC heard RYS, ML. YMW, ZHU, HEU and BZJ, from 355 - 419 Hz. Good to hear domestic NDBs once in a while. Less and less it seems these days.

419 RYS Grosse Ile MI... this is one of my few remaining "locals".
Always has a big signal in here but has been heard as far away as Europe...
pretty good for a 25 watt signal. The fact that it is located on an island
in the Detroit River probably means it has a good ground plane which
is a big help in getting its signal out.

Well, very early this morning could best be described as a "bad longwave night".
High "A" Index pretty much wiped out signals from the far North and a line of T-storms
from Illinois to Louisiana covered signals from the South with almost continuous static
crashes... unusual QRN for this time of year.

Anyway, FWIW, here is a log of NDBs from 326 to 385 heard early this morning:

326 VV Wiarton ON
328 YTL Big Trout Lake ON
332 YFM La Grande 4 QC
334 YER Ft. Severn ON
335 YLD Chapleau ON
335 ZKF Kitchener ON
336 MA Cadillac MI (miskey as MET)
338 UMP Indianapolis IN
338 ZEM Eastmain QC
340 YY Mont Joli QC
341 CCJ Springfield OH
346 YXL Sioux Lookout ON
350 D7 Kincardine ON (no DAID)
351 YKQ Ft. Rupert QC
353 QG Windsor ON
360 PN Port Menier QC (best DX today)
362 AK Akron OH
362 SB Sudbury ON
365 AA Fargo ND (tower actually in MN)
365 TV Traverse City MI
366 YMW Maniwaki QC
368 ZYZ Toronto ON
373 YXK Rimouski QC
375 7B St. Thomas ON
382 YPL Pickle Lake ON

Good longwave night. From from 0115- 0145 UTC tuned from 200 KHz to 520 KHz and heard NM, VV, QT, YKQ, YMW, 2Q, YRR, RJ, BRA, DDP, OO, ML, NEL, ZHU, YTA, FR (? no listing for this one, very weak, could have missed the full ID), SN, RYS, YWA.

I haven't logged NM, OO, and QT before. Good to hear US NDBs such as RYS from Detroit. Whoopie! What a night!

RCVR is Yaesu Frog 100 and W6LVP loop.
