If you’re an HT antenna hoarder like myself, things can get a little out of control storage and quick access wise. I had an ingenious idea to use a spare paint brush holder I had. Needless to say, I’m quite pleased with the end result. You can get a similar one on Amazon for around $5. For bulkier based antennas, I just put ‘em tip down.3729D2F7-021E-4E10-99D1-ACCCA18971BD.jpeg

Haha, I also don't want to pull out the multiple, multiple large Ziploc bags of of HT antennas I've collected nearly 60 years lol.

It's funny I have some that are only 20 years old and they crumbled and broke apart just being in the bags and I have others that are many decades old and they're like new.😉

I know from experience that the stock Uniden ducks tend to do this after some years. I still have one from my first Bearcat scanner in 2012 and it’s still holding up, though I don’t use it.

Yep the first rubber duck antennas from Bearcat scanners which was owned by the Electra company and not bought by Uniden till 1983 had strange connectors that were proprietary to only their radios, like the thin scan series and the first Bearcat 100 keyboard programmable portable, they are in perfect shape even though the radios are long gone.

Oh please don’t make me dig out all my HT antennas. I don’t want to know how many there are around here.
What would you estimate? Maybe 3 times the number of handheld radios you currently have?

Now, if 10mm sockets would just multiply the same way HT antennas do.

Man, I just had to mention the Uniden ducks breaking. I had one of my older Centurion VHF mini ducks crack right in the middle. 🤦‍♂️ Time to break out the 3M heatshrink…

@AK9R - At what point does a hobby become an addiction? Is there help available? You know, like more money to buy more antennas? ;)

I have Uniden rubber ducks from 1994 onward that are fine. I do not leave them in direct sunlight, nor in freezing temperatures. YMMV
