1 scanlist for Fire n another for Police, so that I can choose which 1 to scan.

From earlier:
______________________________________________________
There are 202 ScanLists built into the software. The default names are:

Scanlist 001, Scanlist 002, ...........Scanlist 199, Scanlist 200, Scanlist SkyWarn, and the most elusive "Unassigned Objects" They can be renamed, and they can be "filled" or "emptied", but (as far as I know) they can not be deleted.
_______________________________________________________

Think of these Scanlists as empty chairs around a giant poker table. Each frequency/channel/TG/TRS/etc. is a card in the deck. You deal the cards in the column (vertical row) headed by the title "Scanlists". This is the column on the right when you select one of the tabs Scanlists, Conventional Frequencies, or Trunked Radio Systems (followed by Talkgroup Details).

Highlight one or more "lines" (just like when you were going to "delete". Then Left Click in the blue highlighted area in the right column under Scanlists. You should get a new popup window that allows you to select the scanlist/s that you want the highlighted "lines" to be in.

201 obvious choices/options (just make the little squares dark) and one choice not so obvious. If you leave all the little squares "not dark", the contents of the highlighted lines go to the "Unassigned Objects" Scanlist (the discard pile at the poker table?).

Ok. I reloaded the V scanner folder that were sent to me n I went into #3 n deleted the fire dept. frequencies ............I also added the LED set to Flash on the tac channels. with the back light On n on the Dispatch channels, the LED set to On with the backlight On as well ,both in Blue........I made the undercover channels to Flash green, also with the backlight On....

Because technology continues to Pass me by, this programming takes from my family time, so I try to do it on spare time which is scarce...

Tomorrow I will attempt to remove the PD channels from file #2. n keep only the fire dept.
AM STILL HERE....lol

Hi Tracker,

If file #2 is a VScanner Folder, then there is still a disconnect. Assuming that #2 is a VScanner Folder, I would STRONGLY recommend a course such as the following:

Remove (NOT DELETE) PD Channels from the "numbered" SCAN LISTS in #2 (NOT FROM #2 itself). They will go and hide in the "Unassigned" Scan List (in #2) and will be available for another lesson in the near future.

And first, copy the contents of #2 into an "empty" VScanner Folder and rename it "BACKUP". Then leave that new, renamed "BACKUP" VScanner Folder alone!

I have already typed hundreds of words on EXACTLY how to do all of this (in this thread!). If necessary, I will "cut and paste" those words into another response.

Thanks,
Rob

Tracker! We are not communicating. Try to use the same terminology used by the EZScan Software, and/or on the face of the radio, and/or on the LED screen of the radio. This way we can actually tell what you are doing.

Let’s start with a little housekeeping, inspection, and maintenance.

EZScan Software ---- Files (high left) ---- Open V-Scanner Folder:

Ah, there are the mysterious Virtual Scanners, lol.

In my own Configuration, I have changed the Description of that CDAT Folder to “Fresh Pallette (original) (default)”, and the Folder has no data added. I have 2 more Folders named and described as:

CDAT_VS.001 PHOENIX FD/RESCUE 2011 (OLDER)
CDAT_VS.002 PHOENIX FD/RESCUE 2011 (LATEST)

My .002 above is my current working VS and goes back and forth between the radio and the program. I think of the other two as “dated” backups. They have bailed me out a few times as I fumbled my way through the fields of experimentation.

I would recommend the following housekeeping: Select ###0 (to insure you are in the CDAT Folder. Now, use the

EZScan Software ----- Files (high left) ----- Copy current data to V- Scanner Folder

Select the first “Empty” Folder (probably ###5). Then you need to

EZScan Software ---- Files (high left) ---- Open V-Scanner Folder-----

SELECT ###5 (or different depending on the above described activity). You should see the same data as you saw the last time you left the program after editing. This is also the same as the data in your CDAT Folder. At this time you may

EZScan Software ---- Files (high left) ---- Set V-Scanner Description---

Enter the new Description of your choice in the box provided----OK (when finished).

I would assume you have created/kept "back-up" VScanner Folders just for situation/problem you are describing?

Really simple to move objects in a VSanner to any of the 200 Scanlists. Just change the numbers in the right column (header = Scanlists).

I have gone against my master's, (rwier) teachings. Sorry, (lol)
In addition to what I had previously listed that I had done. I also downloaded "4" additional Police departments, (on the canner itself)
I then copied the scanners contents from my scanner to a laptop n I used the EzScan software to rename some of the channels, after that I once again transferred the contents on said laptop to the scanner n everything works fine.woo hoo!
I have saved the changes on my laptop as back up........just in case.....
I am enjoying listening for now n perhaps next week I will add some of the local fire departments
(Miami-Dade county has allot of municipalities)
Fyi, my internet was down all day yesterday, so I could not update you gentlemen
Can you gentlemen recommend a good magazine to subscribe to for this canner/scanning hobby....?

Wow, 2012! The last we corresponded DAMN
I hope everyone is doing well......
I had updated my Dell laptop to Windows 10 a while ago n recently went to update the 800 n found that my ezscan would not communicate with the scanner.....
A search on RR found the fix.......n I just updated to firmware 2.0 released June 4th (FYI)
Then I run the scanner n it won't pick up Miami Dade PD! (Are they still EDACS)?
SO, I did a search on google for a possible fix...........n this thread came up......!
Allot has happened since 12'........no more GRE ......new whistler etc!
Anyways, I figured I'd reply on this thread to see how you guys are doin.......
Hello from Miami.....

I got my PSR800 used in immaculate condition off Ebay for a great deal
Its a outstanding piece
One of the appeals to me was hearing that it apparently has somewhat of a discriminator tap built in - i havent quite figured it out yet however...

It's quite simple really. Runs off headphone jack. Use a patch cable to your sound card on the computer . I personally run DSD + off my 800 to listen to local DMR and NXDN. It"s a great scanner.
