Good afternoon.
I just ordered a SDS100 from Bearcat Warehouse yesterday.

I have the GPS antenna that I purchased directly from Garmin for my 436.

Can this be adapted to work with the SDS100?
If not, what would be the best GPS antenna for the SDS100

Thanks

When you bought this from Garmin, did it say it worked with a Uniden SDS 100. I have one for my 436HP; however, I was interested in using GPS, I would have to buy another part of the cable setup.

The only Uniden GPS antenna I know about looks like a black hockey puck.

The SDS100 had not been released yet.

When I bought it from Garmin, their website said nothing about Uniden Scanners.

I had been doing different web searches about GPS antennas for the 436,I did find a website that gave all of the different receivers that would work with the 436.I just don't remember which one as it has been a few years:confused:

I just did a search here is the one that I have.

I do have the Uniden Serial Cable, but it does not work.

To get it to work you will need the following cable for the 436.
.

To get it to communicate between the radio and the GPS Receiver you would need a DB9 Null Modem Male to Female Adapter.

The GPS receiver works fine,I just don't have the Null Modem or the Uniden Serial Cable.

The SDS is very limited in what GPS units it will accept without modifications. I believe I had read that somebody had figured out a way to adapt a standard GPS for use with an SDS-100, but it required cutting wires and soldering them to a new connector. You have to know which wire goes to which pin.

I know of one other GPS unit besides the one Uniden sells that will work with the SDS without modifications: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AMAJFUO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You would also need the Uniden USB GPS adapter for the SDS 100. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JQFHLBL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would suggest searching in the Uniden Tech Support forum if you want more details about the situation.
