Well just wrapped up a deal and am getting a 500:D

will be trying out software for programming it. looking a opinions on which of the big 3 (Butel, Win500, PSREdit) softwares do you think are more user friendly for someone starting out?

I have owned a Pro 92, 95, and 97 and am familiar with manually programming those units so I am not a total beginner or completely unfamiliar, but I also do not consider myself an expert.

Butel seems to be the best for programming. It has a normal and expert mode. You can use this at your own speed and get to know the normal/easier setup and then move to the expert mode. It all really depends on what features you want. They all have their own advantages.

Can you think of any advantages for each off the top of your head?
My main concern is programming and changing configurations for scan lists and alerts, mainly setting up led to my liking to make it easy to id what I am hearing.
i have been researching the unit the have been planning how I want it set up for my current needs.

My suggestion would be to try them and see which of them you like best, and go from there. They all have a free trial period, so you have some time to get used to them and make the best decision for yourself.
