My GRE 800mhz antenna on my Pro-95 (with an extra 90 degree BNC connector-along with the swivel one on the antenna itself) is picking up great, maybe because the weather lately. Even behind hills, I'm picking up King County, Eastside, and Valley Com trunking up to 70 miles north of me here in Tumwater, near Olympia, and local conventional 151-158, 462-465, and some 930-940 stuff that is actually EDACS that I listen to on FM. Have scanner in window sill, about 6 feet from computer, 4' from monitor. I have the RS 800, but I'm not switching back to it. I can't imagine what I'd get with a discone; don't think I even need one. I have a combination of freqs programmed from RR (including FCC link), Mr. Scanner, Police Call, Intercept NW, CityFreq, Yahoo groups, and searches. Wow.

I'm here a lot
Sounds great !

How much more is that GRE " 800 "compared to RadioShack's " 800" ?

Just wondering as maybe I'll pick one up as well. I'm currently using the
RS one on my '245.

Looks like $13.99 plus shipping, $7.00, I think mine was $15.99 and five bucks shipping, so around $21 all together. I ordered my Radioshack 800 the same day at the store and my GRE 800 got here a couple days earlier. I had to call the guy in California (toll free) because I didn't want to give out account info over the computer, so I had to wait until the scanner guy was back in the office after the weekend. It is on sale now; I'd buy another if I had another trunking scanner. I also tried the telescopic, my Pro-83 stock duckie, and the antenna from my Pro-46 on my pro-95, but not the CB antennas from my TRC-241's yet. The GRE is a real tight fit on my Pro-83 for some reason, and I am real carefull when changing the antenna on my '95. In fact I keep a BNC 90 degree connector on it, and just add a second one on when switching antennas, so I can swing the antenna around along the side if I don't want it sticking straight up, and to minimize the stress on that part of the radio BNC connector. I might have paid too much for the connectors at RS though, like five bucks each.
