I suspect that is not why the module blew out.

I agree completely. PD / FD / etc. are not going to be running enough power to cause this. Amateur radio (at 144 / 220 / 440 / 1.2) is going to be much more PEP and RF at the antenna. If you were in direct contact, scanner antenna and the transmitters antenna, during a transmission, then I could potentially see a problem.

I realize that it was a high price to pay but I wanted it repaired and to get it back. Sometimes I can be the worst P'er & Moaner to not pay but I felt that this was a battle I didn't want. Just get it done now! I had one of my businesses pay the charge. Done!
