I ran mine on a 9 volt 200 mil wall wart from radioshack for years it most likely draws 25mil but I am not digging it out just to measure it.
I pulled the quote from a battery site.
Here is better data.
The Eveready 9v is rated 600mah at 25ma draw but they run them down to 4.8v at that spec, which is not realistic. I have many things that use 9v batteries and some complain at 7v, few will function at even 6v. So in reality, for most of us I would cut that 600mah rating down to about 400mah at best.

The center pin on the GRE PREAMP is NEGITIVE.

how many amp though?

In another thread its mentioned that the external pack was 300Ma.

In general you can go over the amp rating as the device will only draw what it needs. My Lowrance gps requires 0.9 amps and it sits on a 15 amp circuit. My 436 draws 280 Ma and runs off a 2.4 amp power pack.

You do not want to supply a device less power than it requires or it will suffer.

Maybe try reaching googling the specs on that model charger?
