I have a GRE PSR-275, I have found the following frequencies for GM Fire, which band would they be active on, they state AM but as i have no instructions for my scanner i only have MHz.

The frequencies are as follows

Frequency Type Alpha Tag Description Mode Tag
70.55000 RM FT CENTRAL FT CH1 Central AM Fire Dispatch
70.52500 RM FT WEST FT CH2 West AM Fire Dispatch
70.58750 RM FT SOUTH FT CH3 South AM Fire Dispatch
70.82500 RM FT EAST FT CH4 East AM Fire Dispatch

from Greater Manchester County, England (EN) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Any ideas.....

Thanks

yup
You might be able to punch the frequencies (70.xxx) into your scanner easily. If you can understand what is being said - then you are all set. If you cannot understand what is being said, look for a means to change your scanner from FM to AM. Maybe there is a "mode" button that will change the receiver from AM reception to FM reception.

AM = amplitude modulation

FM = frequency modulation

Mhz = megahertz

Mhz tells you the "frequency" of the radio wave - AM vs FM tells you how the radio wave is "modulated" and "demodulated" by the radios.

Another way to say this is - "Mhz" tells you how fast the radio wave is vibrating - "AM" vs "FM" tells you if the "amplitude" of the radio wave is changing - or if the "frequency" of the radio wave is being changed.
