Hi, guys! I have a Pro-97, but I would like to keep it at my office and get a base unit for the house. I'm not sure I want to make the monetary leap to the Pro-2096 just yet, so, would you have another recommendation for me? I live out on the edge of Xenia and would like to pick up reception from the SW areas of Dayton if possible...any antenna recommendations? I would prefer something that doesn't need to be hard-wired or 30 feet up in the air at this time as I may be moving in the next couple of years.

Thanks for any ideas and suggestions!

I used to live in Cedarville. Just North and East of Xenia. I could sometimes pick up Montgomery Co.'s Trunked system. I used a BC780 and a cell phone antenna. Somtimes it came in ok, some times it did not. If you live in Xenia you sould be closer, and if you life on the West side closer yet. See if you can pick it up with your handheld. If you can at all try a cheep cellular antenna. That may work. And as always the better the location, cable, and antenna the better the signal. Play with the componets before you go all out. I just had the antenna on a book shelf next to a window that faced toward Dayton. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ben. I actually live on the East side of Xenia Township not far from the High School if you're familiar with the area. A cellular phone antenna? The small ones that come on the phones? LOL, sorry if that's a dumb question, but I'm just not getting a good mental picture of that!

Try a mag mount mobile cell antenna, or you might try a mag mount mobile scanner antenna. If you have a window nearby, you might be able to stick it out the window.

Yes, a mag mount on a filing cabinet or other metal surface should work quite good.

I found that after I replaced the supplied duckie antenna on my PRO94 with RadioShack's "tuned" (?) 800Mhz antenna, I could hear Mont Co., as well as Warren Co systems with no problem - I am just S. of Xenia on Lower Bellbrook Rd.
