I am reprogramming my SDS 100 for monitoring Houston and Harris County. I am wanting to only program the Simulcast sites. Will this work or be sufficient? Are there any suggestions.

I don't know. I see like 20 sites in that whole list, I think you might miss a lot of traffic if you only put some of em in. But I don't know how Harris County's system is set up either. I think if I were in your spot I would program all of the sites for Harris just in case.

You can pretty much get by with just the simulcast sites. I've managed to hear most, if not all, of what's going on by just using those sites when I'm down there.

Start with the Harris County Simulcast (01-34) for HC agencies, and whichever 3-0x site you are geographically in for HPD/HFD. If your radio is not Phase II, your only option for HFD/HPD is 03-05 as it is the only site that carries them in phase 1.

The non simulcast sites in HC are typically only used for transient talkgroups with a few exceptions.

EDIT:Since you have an SDS, use 3-1,2,3 or 4 depending on your location. I would not bother with 3-5.

I am very happy to say I am so relieved to get out of the Houston Metroplex. I moved to Waco from this area in 1998. The traffic was horrible then; however, it is much worse than I ever imagined.

Everything I programmed worked great. I even found Gulf Coast Interop 9 in operation. Of all of the talk groups in TxWarn, LCRA 25, and GATRRS, GC Interop is my favorite. They were monitoring a crook and getting read to "knock them down." I listened to this driving from Angleton to Katy.

Thanks for the help folks.
