I was in the area of 13600 North Merdian Street at St.Vincent Carmel hospital on Monday 6-11-13.I was monitoring the Hamilton County EDACS system on my Uniden Home Patrol HP-1. The users of the system were having problems hearing dispatch both police and fire. I heard several times dispatch was asked to repeat their radio traffic.

That usually means the dispatchers are having trouble with their handsets.

I was hearing them just fine and the audio was easy to understand. It was the officers and the medics that were having problems hearing dispatch.

That's interesting. BTW, I meant to say headsets, not handsets.

Apparently there has been some realignment of law enforcement talkgroups as well, but I am not sure on the specifics yet.

It's not always the headsets, actually the vast majority of the audio issues are with the hardware itself, not the headsets.

and yes there are more changes coming.

It sounded very busy on the fire side of communications today when the storm rolled in. At one point, I heard Noblesville-Westfield Fire on Firegrounds 9,10,11 & 12. The Fire Dispatch TG is extremely busy with everyone on one dispatch TG now. I have not noticed any other recent changes.

During last night's police action shooting in Noblesville...all radio traffic was on HCSD Tac 1. Has NPD moved over to HCSD Tac channels and done away with their own Tac's?

I have heard that they were going to go exclusively to countywide TAC and Special Events channels. Based on what you have heard maybe that is exactly what happened. I was out of town and missed that incident. Did HCSD respond as well? Often times they will use countywide TGs when multiple agencies are involved in a major incident. Riverview Hospital is owned by Hamilton County and their Security was probably involved so that could also explain the use of CW talkgroups.

Noblesville Officers were involved in the shooting but requested County handle the investigation. All radio traffic was moved from NPD-Disp to HCSD Tac 1. Makes sense to only have one set of Tac channels.

The shooting occurred on property owned by the county which is why the county is handling the investigation.

Look for more changes coming soon.

This has not occured at this time plus with the pending radio changes, it may not occur on the EDACS
