Hey everyone:

Need a little help. I own a 97 Ford Ranger and need a way to hold my Pro 95 so I can view the display. I have clipped it to the sunvisor above my head to help with noise loss but I would really like to be able to see the display. Anyone know of a holder for my scanner to mount to the dash or anything else.

I think a metal strip with enough elevation(clearance) to clip the belt clip on, with tabs for the strip to screw it to the dash would work. I use the transfer case in the Rodeo and it works well everything else will require another holder method and I'm thinking of the metal strip as a solution. It could be really small and descrete for when not in use. Too bad old metal mic brackets aren't wide or deep enough for the belt clip.

I'll take a few pics of mine and send them your way! I like the way mine is setup and it's very easy to read the display!

If you would, share some of the pics here as well. I'm sure others would like to see someone's solution. Thanks!

There is a belt carry kit for cell phones that works great.
It has the spring loaded belt clip and a round stick on mount the same as a microphone to put on the phone.
The round adapter for the phone not only will fit the belt clip but is the same size as a microphone clip for a dash board.
It works great and allows you to carry the scanner on your belt and use the mic. clip also.
There is also the cell phone clamp style holder on the flexible goose neck that also works great and is adjustible to give a view of the readout.
I think Radio Shack still sells the cell phone belt clip kits but I am not sure who sells the goose neck type.

There is a mount that clips to the A/C vents in the vehicle, it's the Watson QS200. You can get it from Scanners Unlimited. I used this in my Ford Ranger and it worked well.

I've been looking for a better solution for my hand held, I use to just keep it in the
cup holders between the front seats, then I started clipping it to the out side of the
cup holders when my wife is in the truck with me, but that way...I couldn't see the
display.

I bought a vent mount scanner holder from eBay and I'm awaiting delivery.
It should work out just fine for me. I'll post some pics of it in use, once I get it.

For my Xterra, I have a custom made holder made by a friend a few years ago, it's just a small wooden box. for my G/F Explorer I just cut a metal coat hanger to the size of the clip on the back of the radio and bent hooks on the ends, attached it to the A/C vent and ther ya go!! I have a Pro-96.

radio holder

Have seen a marine-type drink holder used--pivits in all directions-didn't drop his radio--down side is it was screw-mounted, though that could be done to a bracket mounted under-dash--NOTE--mount where it will not allow contact with legs/ knees in the event of a crash--kneecaps work best where they are meant to be.I personally prefer the cell-phone mount that ratchets closed when sides are squeezed together. Dude. You all should see foster_006 in his pimped out scanner-O-mobile ride! I pulled up along side him one day and he was wearing a huge pink feathered hat and sunglasses with this song playing on his radio.

I've tried that one. At first it's great because you can also control the scanner with voice commands! (This requires spending a few hours training the unit - you have to configure it for each scanner you want it to control) The only problem is it will sometimes make this awful chattering noise while you're trying to listen to the scanner, and if you don't pay attention to it, the unit will go into "fail-soft" mode and you end up holding the scanner yourself. :p

According to the audio help file on my unit, "fail-soft" will result in ejection of the scanner from the vehicle.
