Just to close the discussion, I found a nice TH-D72 after dropping some requirements. Very happy to drop the GPS I was lugging around. That Kenwood gps is acquiring sats real fast. Plus I'll try to reach the ISS. I'll hover another radio for wide band receiving. Like all hobbies, it grows and there is always the wife involves. Choices have to be made Cheers

The D72 is a solid radio, full duplex for FM voice satellites with great APRS implementation.

@ve2ihs A combination of the D72A and an Icom R30 should provide plenty of fun. There is an R30 on qrz.com for $500 and it includes an extra battery.

I can't see ever selling my D72. I work the sats sometimes and there is no other HT that is full duplex. I will operate the sats from EN84 and FN51 this year.

I will be FM only as the D72 is the only rig I will take so I will concentrate on the sats.
