So, I bought a radio, A Harris XG-75P that is supposed to be able to pick up P25 Phase II. It is programmed with Troop J, All of the Pope County Channels and the Conway County LEO talk groups. I can hear the Arkansas State Police Dispatch Just fine, but all the channels just sit on CC Scan and never go to BND Scan and I get dead silence on them. Anyone have any Ideas?

I guess I should clarify a bit. I have 3 groups, the Troop J group with all of the channels programmed, one with AWIN channels, Pope County and Conway County, and one that is STE Find. I can hear Troop J while in STE Find mode, but not if I am just in the Troop J group, it says CC Scan also. Strange behavior indeed.

Get off that radio. Your dragging TG, and illegally on the system to begin with. If you were legit user you would have an actual system radio set up by an authorized radio shop for AWIN. Hope you don't get bonked completely out and bricked.

Programmed by who? How? NAS?

Look, I cannot transmit. That would be against the law! I am using it simply as a scanner. It was given to me because a friend upgraded.his. So no I am not going to get it bricked, and I am not doing anything illegally. It was programmed by a shop in Texas. I am taking it to "an authorized shop" on Monday to get it flashed and reprogrammed.
Scanner is a scanner,. If it is legal to use a Uniden scanner to listen, it is legal to use a Harris XG-75P, as long as I do not have transmit capabilities.

If he doesn't have it setup for NAS then they'll see it soon and brick it most likely...definitely something to consider.

True. If it does not affiliate it is semi cool. But if it aff's then it's going to be locked out. Any AWIN shop is not going to flash Harris radio anyway. Double so as you are not an authorized user on the system.

Appointment with a radio shop? Or what do you mean?

I'm sure Troop J, Pope Co. and Conway Co. wouldn't want a radio like that on AWIN. I'm sure that this "radio shop" probably won't let him on AWIN too.

Isn't there only a select few radio shops that can program AWIN radios?

I do think there is at least an approved list. I’m not sure hope many it includes.

I can hear troop j just fine, but only in site find mode,. All my awin channels are silent and stuck in ccscan mode. Yes, I mis spoke, it is a radio shop, not an official awin shop. I didn't know they had official shops,. I'm am a volunteer firefighter, and a commissioned officer in the Arkansas Guard,. If this don't work, I'll just go to camp Robinson and have my buddy at ADEM fix it. I knows a few folks down there but spending that kind of capital is scary!!!

Oh, since I a new to this and i fear not them ridicule, what does all this mean?

DMR channel. Color Code 2, talkgroup 10, timeslot 2.

If you are permitted to have a radio on AWIN it will need to be an official radio or they will brick your radio remotely. Just being commissioned doesn’t mean you are a permitted user. Official radio ID and all. Sounds like you need to stop now and go through official channels or use a scanner.

Has, I am a rebel without a care, I'm don't plan to affiliate the radio, as In no talkie, just listen. No chance of bricking it. If it was easy everyone would do it. I mean if I can use a Linux mint box to listen and decode the P25, for 40 bucks. A non transmitting radio shouldn't be a problem.
Also, I know being an Army Office does not entitle me to affiliate a radio, but I was the communications officer for the brigade, I know people. Just saying.

SINGARS is a totally different animal, still uses tdma trunking but a different animal indeed.

That only works if programmed right...and regular programming affiliates as soon as you power it up. And the system admins brick your radio. It's a bigger deal than you're making it out to be. Good luck...

@milf may have even further to say about it as he knows more about the back end of things than I.

No legit radio shop with legit programming software will be able to program that radio on the AWIN system. It requires an AAC (WACN key) request from L3HARRIS to allow the radio to be programmed properly.

The point of the AAC is to prevent unauthorized users from programming radios to operate on systems. AWIN was one of the early systems to request being on the locked systems list of L3HARRIS's liscensed programming software.

Who ever programmed the radio for him isn't using legit software and/or doesn't know what they are doing.

SINCGARS doesn't use TDMA trunking? It's a frequency hopping ECCM,which usually requires VINSON or SAVILLE COMSEC keys to be programmed.

Yes they require a comsec key...... Anyway my radio is functioning properly now. Proper programming prevents piss poor performance.

Or having it done properly with legit software and the required permissions, which I highly doubt was done in this case.

I went to ADEM and had my friend program it, it is affiliated and working on the correct towers. I just had him turn the transmit option off in RPM.
