Hatzalah NY Metro "transport to IV"?

I frequently listen to NY Metro area Hatzalah feed. In the Brooklyn Hatzalahs (Flatbush, Boro Park and maybe others as well) the units will often relay to dispatch something that sounds like "we are transporting to IV" or "we are going to IV". Does anyone know what this means? I'm assuming that it doesn't mean to administer IV medication because then the other Hatzalahs on the feed would use that terminology as well. Thanks.

It’s a longshot guess, but first thing which came to mind in that general area was that Sloan Kettering has a facility on Atlantic Avenue which they refer to as the “Infusion Center.”

If Hatzalah does non-emergency transport of patients too ill to use a "wheelchair" service it is logical they could be transporting patients needing routine IV therapy to an Infusion Center. These would be mainly chemo patients well enough to go home between treatments but might have difficulty with other means of transportation to the Center.

Are you sure you're not hearing "IZ"? Israel-Zion is the (very) old name for Maimonides from decades ago, yet area FDNY*EMS and other EMS units still refer to it as IZ.

I guess that could be it. I would love if someone can confirm that.

I wonder....
It could be that that is what they are saying. I actually don't usually hear them saying that they are transporting to Maimonides so it makes sense. Thanks!

I replied to this on another thread, but I will put it on this thread as well.

It's being referred to as IZ (Israel Zion) and the Hatolah units are using it as a shortened way to say they are going to Maimonides hospital

I retired from NYC*EMS in 1995. Worked at what was station 31, Coney Island back then. IZ does indeed refer to Israel Zion. You can find the relevent info on Wikipedia. I always thought that it's just easier to say "IZ" than "Maimonides". I've heard "Maimo" used too.
