I noticed earlier tonight they were MIA too. Hadn't tuned the 60 meter band in a few weeks.... Usually Rebelde is a bellwether, always present in some form. I used to get it even on my DX-375 off the internal loopstick (which has a coil that works in the 60-49 meter bands).

I've been hearing what sounds like news reports in Cuban Spanish on 5025 Khz in the early mornings.... About 3 or 4 times over the past two weeks. But I haven't heard them during the earlier, nighttime hours yet. So I'm not sure a) if it's really Rebelde or another Cuban broadcaster using the frequency, or b) Rebelde on only part of the time.

Either way, it looks like 5025 kHz is at least partially back on the airwaves.

The only other station that I can find listed on 5025Khz is Radio Quillabamba in Cusco, Peru. Power is listed at 500W with a schedule from 1000Z to 0200Z. I was listening just now, 0155Z and I heard very faint Spanish and at 0200Z very faint Pan pipes before the signal ended, so it may be Radio Quillabamba that I heard and what you are hearing. My location is just east of Atlanta, GA.

^^^^^ what I've heard around 4 a.m. PDT (1100 GMT or so) on 5025 kHz is waaaaay too strong for anything from Peru, around S3-S4 or so.

So any DXers who want to hear Cuba on 5025 again, try during the early Cuban morning. My Spanish is fair-to-middlin', but it sounds like noticias being read, usually by a guy.

Great catch with the Peruvian. I don't think I've heard Peru, ever, except maybe during ham HF contests in the 2010s, and maybe an 11 meter Outbander here and there about 10 years ago, around 27500 or thereabouts (where the Latin American Outbanders seem to hang out when conditions are up).

That said, next time I tune around 5025 during the hours you mention I'll listen a bit more closely.

I see (hear) that Radio Rebelde is back on 5025.

I just turned on one of my SW radios and do hear a very faint bit of music on 5025 kHz, so I guess the reports are correct. Radio is a brand new Tecsun PL-398 (the mini boombox Tecsun), off the whip.

Yesterday evening and a.m. there was still nothing.

Glad they're back on, if they are. A little bit of lively music on 60 Meters

They have been strong here on Central Ohio last few days.
I can even hear them on my Little Skywave SSB and it's little whip antenna

Most of the Time I use my RF Space SDQ-IQ

This AM 5025 khz was MIA. Then again, so was WWV on 5000 khz. So perhaps it was propagation instead of any other factor.

^^^^ Seems realistic. I'm about 15 degrees north of you and 2000 miles further away from Cuba (I'm in the PNW). Glad to hear they're on the air, either way.

I've been hearing Rebelde most evenings or mornings lately, at varying strengths. Looks like they're back to where they were before the hurricane affected them.
