Hi, I live in Valley City, Ohio and my interest is in receiving frequencies for Brunswick/ Brunswick Hills and Valley City Police and Fire and EMS. With that said I can’t find any frequencies since Brunswick went digital. After much research I found that they share a tri county Ohio with Parma, Medina, and Ottawa Counties. They only give Dec. numbers 3050, 3055, 3056, and 3059. There are no frequencies. I am really frustrated that I can’t find any help. If anyone has ideas, your help will be greatly appreciated.

What model scanner do you have and are you using programming software?

In Medina County, Fire/EMS is on MARCS, PD is on the Medina/Parma system, with the exception of Wadsworth, which had PD on MARCS as well.

Jabscan- Looks like you might be monitoring systems with sites that are simulcast. That said, this could limit the scanner type. T

In addition to the OH state MARCS system, your area uses the “Parma / Medina County / Ottawa County” system. That is a P25 Phase2 system. The numbers you referenced (3050, 3055, 3056, and 3059) are Talkgroups on the Parma / Medina County / Ottawa County system.

The Uniden SDS100 & SDS200 are proven to work well in simulcast locations. There are other choices, but others might be able to speak to them. I have only used the SDS scanners on P25 systems. I have several programming software products, but the (free) Uniden Sentinel software works just fine.

The other thing that works very well is Software Defined Radio (SDR) receivers. This is only a good option if your monitoring is near your computer. Currently I have both a the SDS 100 & 200 and they work great with simulcast MARCS sites. Also I use SDR with SDR-Trunk software, but there are many good, free programs to pick from. SDR receives are less money, but requires some basic computer ability. Software Defined Radio

The DEC numbers are talkgroup ID's (TGID's). A talkgroup in a trunked system is the equivalent of a frequency or channel in a conventional system. The frequencies in a trunked system are shared by all users on the system. There is not a separate frequency for each user. You must create at least one site for a trunked system. The frequencies go into the site.

You should also create a separate P25 trunked system for Ohio MARCS using the Medina Co site on that system. There are different TGID's for Medina Co on that system.
