Hi
I'm having trouble with programming FL in sentinel. I program my lists it uploads fine to the SDS100 but for the life of me i can't figure our why i don't hear any traffic on those lists I program. I can put it into full database mode and hear all the same systems, TG's just fine but my lists are silent. Do you have to create the FL quick keys and have them on for your FL to work? or no? I must be missing some aspect of the process. I have watched a million YouTube videos on how to do FL and have done it over and over but the FL I create are always silent, yet the same TG;s and systems etc are active on full database. Any help, hints, tips etc would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Be certain the appropriate service types are all turned on, and look in the profile editor in Sentinel and be sure under the "Scan Selection" tab that both monitor and download are set to "ON" for all your favorites lists.

One common oversight is to NOT select Download AND Monitor.

I have selected download and monitor. That's not the issue. Also all the appropriate service types are indeed turned on. I'm going to have to dig deeper.

A favorites list without a quick key will scan all of the time. If a favorites list has a quick key, press the quick key number followed by E to toggle it on and off. If no favorites lists are enabled, you will see the dreaded Nothing to Scan.

Also I have noticed when I do scan only these created FL's it seems to not scan very fast through these, seems to get hung up in one created FL and scans that, why doesn't it move through these fast?

This a trunked system and are you scanning a large number of sites, many of which may be too far away to receive?

If you created your own Favorite List for a Trunking System, besides the Favorite List name, a System then a Site is needed. Under the Favorite List Option tab, there is a drop down menu to give it a Quick Key number.

Favorite List...System...Site...Department. It defaults to ID Scan at the System level, and if you don't have any talkgroups programmed, the scanner will be silent. You have to change that feature at the System level, under the Options tab.

I don't know how far you've gone in the programming structure, so I'll stop here for now.

You may be scanning far too many sites or scanning the same systems and sites multiple times. Either one will slow down your scanning. Please attach the favorites list giving you problems so that we can look at it. In Sentinel, go to the File tab and click on Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to right click on the exported file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder. There are 7 sites for El Paso County on the DTRS system. Please let us know your closest city or town to be able to determine the best sites to use.

One more thing. In the Sentinel profile, you will find quick keys that need to be checked for the Favorites you decide to download and monitor. You also have quick keys at the Favorite level as well as Department. These have to be checked. You can check if you have this right by running your cursor over these quick keys.
