Hays County Change

Since Monday, SO has been using SO2 for North and West side units - Dripping, Wimberly (Adam, Baker, Charlie, David), traffic units in those areas (along 290), and SROs in those areas. Seems like everyone else (Buda PD, Uhland PD & what they call “East side units”) with Traffic units and SROs are still on SO1. There was an incident at the Sonic in Buda on Monday where they moved everyone that wasn’t responding to that incident to SO2 for awhile.

Not sure if this is permanent or not - just a head’s up for those listening to Hays County to have SO2 in your scan list.

Also, I’m still hearing both on the Dripping (or North Hays) site - and they’re both still up on the old Creedmoor (now labeled ”South Hays??”) site. I can’t pick up San Marcos from where I am.

And I spoke too soon. They just announced “dispatch 2” is closed, move back to primary. So if they have done this the past couple of evenings, I missed it. Sounds like maybe it’s for just during the day when things are busier.

Dripping Springs has a simulcast tower closer to Austin on 290, and Creedmoor has one in Buda or Kyle I believe. They are now called North Hays and South Hays, probably because there is also a West Hays site way out there closer to Blanco.

HCSO is weird about when they go about using SO 2. SMPD has also been using their channel 2 a lot more recently, and there are more active & unique dispatcher consoles on both channels at any given time. It looks as though they've done some geographic splitting. I recommend SDRTrunk for COMINT gathering for these kinds of behaviors so you can see the over the air aliases and determine where dispatchers are talking and when. Dispatcher console aliases have "CC" in them.

It is in the latest build. LCRA system aliases will appear without user input.
