Hello everyone! I am incredibly new and inexperienced so bear with me. I don't have anything fancy (BAOFENG UV-5R and BAOFENG DM32 DM-32UV DMR Radio) but was wondering if someone could help me get started by giving me some frequencies that I might find a signal on? I live just a few blocks north of Downtown Tampa and haven’t had too much luck grabbing a signal. I found the repeating weather frequency a week ago but didn’t save it and haven’t been able to find it since. Any frequencies would be much appreciated. Again, I apologize if these are dumb questions. I watched several youtube videos on how to operate the radios but still feel pretty lost.

The internet is your friend. One or more of the local NOAA weather radio frequencies can be found between 162.400 and 162.550 (FM). You should be able to find lots of business frequencies between 150-174 MHz and 450-470 MHz. Ham repeaters can be found between 144-148 MHz and 440-450 MHz, and railroad frequencies can be found around 160-161 MHz. Except for the weather channels, very few of these frequencies will have non-stop traffic. Keep looking.

NOAA weather radio. It'll be one (or more) of these. Plug them all into your radio:
162.400
162.425
162.450
162.475
162.500
162.525
162.550

Look at these and try the analog entries you find that are in your specific area. Don't expect a lot of range from a hand held radio, especially in a house.
