I just got my 97 and jus programmed the channels I want and scan and also the talkgroups, my question is say 856.2125,856.4375,856.7125,etc are the trunk system right and put them in that order and then enter like 8432 for ems 7416 for fireand whatever talk group but someone said that you got to use LCD order for our systems here in Horry is there that much of a difference or no can someone try and walkme through it I am getting County and fire but not sure if I am in trunk mode

Thanks for any help

To make it really easy, you can use.........

win97 (software to program your scanner)
A cable from radio shack
Be a donating member of this website so you can import the frequency and trunked information directly into Win97 from this website

To answer your questions..................

I think that's LCN, that's not for motorola systems.

I don't have a 97, so I'm not sure of the excact way it trunk tracks. If anyone else can tell me how to change a win93 file to a win97 file, I can send you a file that I used when I was there last week.

When scanning, do you hear the control channel at all? It's a loud, "buzzing" sound. Are you using win97 to program your scanner, or are you programming it by hand?

Win 97 is here http://www.starrsoft.com/software/win97/default.asp

Here is another post on using a 97 in Horry County.

Here's the link to the Horry Co. TRS Page in the database that you should be looking at: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=541

As stated before, the Horry Co. TRS is a Motorola system, so Logical Channel Numbers and ordering does not apply. In fact, because it's a Motorola system, you only need to program the control channel frequencies.

I don't have a PRO-97, but I'll assume it's programmed in a similar fashion to the PRO-92/93/95/96.

Pick a scan bank (0-9) and program the 4 frequencies that appear in red type on this page. These are the control frequencies. For each one, put the channel in MOT mode using the Mode button. You can program the other frequencies too, but they will be wasting channel space.

Then press Program+Trunk, and press Mode until MOT shows up. That puts the bank in MOT mode. Press Scan.

Make sure the number representing the bank appears in the "scan screen." If not, press the number button corresponding to the bank to enable it. Disable all the others. Press Funct+5 until a "+" sign appears under that bank number. That puts the bank in Open Mode, and allows you to hear all active talkgroups on the system. If you hear Conway PD, Loris PD, Horry Co. PD, Horry Co. Fire/Rescue, etc and see the appropriate talkgroup ID numbers appear during a transmission, then you've programmed it correctly.

Now you can make a list of the talkgroups that are interesting to you, and program those into the ID scan lists in the bank you chose previously. Press Funct+5 to put the bank in Closed mode once you've programmed the IDs, and you'll only hear the transmissions you want to hear.

It's true that using the software will make this much easier. I encourage you to do that. But it may take a little while to find the PROPER programming cable and download the software (it comes with a free 30-day trial period). These steps will at least get you going until you obtain the cable and software.

Good luck.

Thanks Brian. I should have wrote what you did, but I was tired and could not get ny brain to work that well. I'd offer to do it for him the next time I was in the area, but my laptop does not have a seriel port to program with.
