I need a bit of help programming the Iscan 107. I put the SD Card in my PC and select ""copy config from SD Card" but am unsure where to plug the pc cable in the scanner-I want to "restart" AKA wipe everything I have done and start fresh-because I am getting an error saying "no sd card" when I start the scanner

I can add playlists OK, but some like Ft Worth channels do not show up as the certain types/area departments..etc, nor can I receive the local Ft Worth weather station.

Can someone help me , or so I have a totally useless scanner off Ebay I bought (came with pc cable and all accessories) and in the radio shack box?

Sorry-I'm just a bit frustrated-please note I'm not angry, just confused

Hi Sportsfan,
I would take the SD card out of the radio & plug it into your computer & reformat the SD card using the iSCAN software. Make sure the lock on the SD card isn't in the LOCK position. Then plug the SD card back into the radio. Then go online using the iSCAN software & update the library. This will put the entire Radio Ref database on the card. I would also update the Firmware, & Software while your at it. You will need to use the computer cable that came with the radio.

The computer cable goes on the right side of the scanner where it says PC/IF. Just gently lift the little black flap from the bottom, & you will see where the cable goes.

It might take a few tries to get this to work. I can't get mine to connect to the iSCAN website right now. The site might be down during the night?

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that, Chuck!

May have to purchase the cable (can't find it laying around) but I am sure the guys at Radio-shack can help me in the morning with it :)

well, turned it on this am and it said "fatal error, SD card is write protected" Looks like a trip to RS is in order to see if there is anything they can do.

If you are getting an error message, you do not want to copy the config from the card because you are saving whatever is causing the problem. Reformat the card using the iscan program. Update the library/database on the computer and copy that information TO the card. Whenever you dowload a library update, it must be installed to the card and to the computer separately. Since you are missing the cable, do all of this on the computer and then put the card back in the scanner. You should be able to build your scanlists with the scanner keypad unless there is something else wrong. You also want to look for that cable, as a replacement will cost around $40. You will be able to get things working without the cable, but it is needed for firmware updates and to save removing the card for every change.

Can someone walk me through (step by step) instructions on how to at least get this to operate so I can at least attempt to reprogram the radio?

This is really not my thing-maybe I should have gotten the 164 instead :)

The cable is only for charging the batteries and updating the firmware in the radio

Take the SD card out of the radio and insert it into the computer with LOCK off.
Start the Iscan software.
Using the Update tab at the top, update the Iscan software to version 1.05
Using the same drop down menu to update the library. This will give you the latest data in the RR
database.
Use the software to edit/delete data in the scan lists you do not want.
Under the SD card drop down menu, use Prepare SD card for use. Select both boxes and format the card.
Insert the card back into the radio.
Make sure you press "SEL" after turning the radio on

Happy Scanning.

Hey Doug

Got a "error updating local update file" Anything else I can try?

If you are using version 1.05 of the Iscan software:

Delete the Iscan software
Shut down, not just restart, and then power up computer.
Reload the Iscan software.
Update the Iscan to the latest version.
Update the library.
..........

If you are NOT using version 1.05. update the software.

Got it fixed-just took a bit to rename the playlists.

Gonna have to buy more rechargeable batteries-regular ones drain quite easily.

BTW-how far of a range can you achieve?

I can get all of Tarrant, DFW Airport and most of Southern Denton County

(Thanks for putting up with my what seemed to be easy questions) I had an old

To extend the battery life, set the backlight to only come on on a key press.
Users should get a full day's use (7am TO 11pm) and more on a set of batteries.

While I have not tested with all the departments in the area, from here in Flower Mound, I do get Arlington, Fort Worth and Dallas. Have not tested anything in counties to the north, east, or west.
