i have installed what i need upload it too me scanner and nothing i do not even pick up digital or phase one phase 2 i am using freescan went to my state county installed it to my scanner nothing

Please provide a link to the database for the system(s) you are trying to monitor. Also, please post your (FreeSCAN) programming file. You will need to compress (zip) the file in order to attach it to a post. If you use Windows Explorer, and navigate to the folder on your PC where the file is located, you should be able to <right><click> on the file in order to select "compress" from the pop-up menu.

you might want to get the NXDN upgrade.

I would also include the St Albans site which covers a lot of Putnam County. SIRN currently doesn't show any sites for Putnam County. Technically, the System Type and Site Type should both be P25 Standard (Digital XT). It does work the way it downloads from the database. The ID Mode should be set to ID Scan. In ID Search, you receive every talkgroup on the system. In ID Scan, you receive only the talkgroups programmed. I don't know if Putnum County intends to migrate to SIRN or will continue to use the NXDN frequencies. You may want to click on Report and request that your thread be moved to the West Virginia forum. The members there may have a lot more information.

i zip a vid show everyone its not doing nothing for some odd reason i have did what the freescan software told me too im not sure if im doing it wrong or what then sometimes when i upload files it throws a ton of Errors then sometimes it works im pretty good building a computer fig things out but this scanner has got the best of me i fig its plug and play even bought the Premium Subscriber to make it easy on me naw still nothing only thing i pick up is analog

Good morning and welcome to Radio Reference as posted above some of your area uses NXDN that is an addon key and digital format you can buy from my.uniden.com also FREESCAN does not support the NXDN Format so you will need to get PROSCAN or one of the other Programming Softwares and import the above programming into your 996P2.

You should see the control channel frequency where NFM currently shows anytime you are not receiving a transmission. You are not properly decoding the control channel. You have the correct frequencies for the Charleston site. Here is a PDF file which will answer all of your questions about using quick keys. Print it out and save it for your reference.

As @tvengr stated the St. Albans tower is the closest tower to you so you need to program it in also.

How high are the mountains between you and Charleston? If you are using the factory antenna, you may need an outside antenna because it looks like Poca is in a river valley. St. Albans looks like it has a pretty clear shot to you..

how can i add St. Albans i do use the antanna that it came with everyone telling me its like cell service if thats the case my service sucks up here, and well charleston has a lot of action no so much putnam seems everyone around me picks up all i dont im not sure what the heck im doing wrong to be a $500 scanner and then i need to pay a nother $75 just for the MXDN format is silly to me ill just sell it not worth it to me i just wanted to hear local i had no clue i had to go all though this i got the prem acount for here and upload like it says the scanner is like a brick does not pick up nothing

Added St. Albans to your file. Download it, unzip, and load into Freescan, then write to scanner, see if you pickup anything.

Edit: Make sure all the Service Types for Law, Fire, and EMS are turned on.
