Help programming SDS100 for Tangipahoa

Just purchased a SDS100 and for the life of me I can't get it to work. I have downloaded the Sentinel software chose agencies I want to listen to and uploaded them to the radio.

It will scan but no voice. Is there anyone in Tangipahoa parish able to help me get it setup? I only want to listen to Fire in Tangi.

Do you see the fire departments showing on the screen if you hit the channel hold button? Do you have all fore related service types on?


This the manuals for the radio, and Sentinel but its much easier to read than the one that came in the box.

Have you checked to make sure the appropriate Service Types are enabled?

If this is the system and talkgroup you are trying to get, the database shows Interop as the service type for 53-OEP FIRE. The Fireground channels are Fire-Tac.

Make sure that you have the Interop and Fire-Tac service types enabled. By default only EMS Dispatch, Fire Dispatch, Law Dispatch, Custom 1, and Multi-Dispatch are enabled.

On the scanner:

Select Service Types

Press Func then Zip/Services. Scroll to each Service Type and press E/yes to enable or disable.

Yes if I hit the channel button and use the volume rotary dial I can scroll through the departments. Under the select service types it only allows me to turn on Fire Dispatch, Fire-Tac, and Interop.

You should be able to turn on and off all service types, not just 3 fire related. When you hold and rotate the wheel, do you see the channels/talkgroups? Departments talkgroups and channels are different things.

Give this favorites list a try. It has all of the talkgroups for Tangipahoa Parish on the LWIN statewide trunked system. It also has all 3 sites for Tangipahoa County. The LWIN Hammond site will be scanning when you first write the file to the scanner. The other 2 sites in the north end of the county will probably be out of range unless you have an outside antenna. If you hold on the Tangipahoa Parish system, while scanning, you can toggle departments and sites on and off by pressing the decimal point twice followed by the dept/site quick key number followed by E. You can view the dept/site quick key status by selecting the Detail Trunk display. The blank department with no quick key is there to prevent getting the dreaded Nothing to Scan message in the event you turn off all of the departments. Likewise, the LWIN Hammond site will be scanning all of the time. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it: Tangipahoa Par In the Downloads folder, open the extracted file (Tangipahoa Par.hpe). It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel. Dept/site quick keys as follows:
