I have a BCD536HP scanner. I was able to install the Sentinel software onto my laptop when I first purchased my scanner without any problems. I recently had to replace the hard drive on my laptop and in the process have tried reinstalling the Sentinel software onto the new hard drive. Here's the problem . During the installation process I am being told that I need to download and install .Net Framework 2.0 in order to successfully finish installing Sentinel. I have downloaded the latest version of this .Net Framework and installed it on my hard drive, however, everytime I try to install Sentinel I get the same message about needing to have .Net Framework installed and the installation ceases.
What am I doing wrong? Does anyone know what is the solution to this problem?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

You didn't mention which version of Windows you're running? Have you run all the Windows updates? Try that, re-boot, then try installing Sentinel again.

I believe that this has been mentioned previously. Even though a member on the forum had downloaded & installed the earlier .Net version, as you have as well, he was getting the same error as your's because it was not 'enabled'. See if the steps on this page help.

If you installed the latest net framework 3 or 4, be sure to install version 2. All 4 versions of net frameworks are different program libraries... sentinel needs 2.x installed as it requested. Hope that helps.

Thanks! I think I have it figured out!

I am using Windows 10 with all of the most recent updates downloaded and installed.
I did reconfigure the .Net framework to be version 2.1 and I was able to load Sentinel once again.
You were correct in assuming I had the later version of .Net framework in place so I simple checked the 2.1 version to be used and that did the trick!
Thanks agin for your prompt reply, you advice and for helping me to get Sentinel back up and installed.

NetFramework

Depending on which version windows. Go into control panel. Or possibly settings. Locate Programs add/remove. Features. On the left edge you should see add windows features (something like that depending on your install version). A window opens and shows you optional software to install. Scroll down and you show see what you need.

It happened to me also. Google searching pays off.

Uniden needs to fix that and have it be compatible with newer versions of the .Net framework. It took me long time to find and get that right last time i had to do an install.

Net framework 1, 2, 3,ect. Are not the same, they are all different, you should have all of them installed and active in windows.

I don't think so. Once a software app 'targets' a certain .Net Framework version, it should stay with that version unless using a newer technology not available in an earlier version. When a app 'targets' a new version of the .Net Framework, Every function will need to be tested which can take months or longer depending on the amount of features. Even then, bugs will pop up that weren't caught in-house.
