First of all, I've been into scanning for about 20 minutes now. I bought a RadioShack Pro-84 scanner.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to give it a frequency number manually and have it go to it. I've read the book and tried following the instructions. Each time, I get an error.

If anyone has any tips / tricks on how to whip this guy into shape, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Chris

The standard CB Frequencies. I found a table online of them. One in particular is channel 1 which is 26.965 MHz.

Thanks in advance

Do you always have to program in the channel to go to it? Is there a way to just key in the frequency number and go to it?

BTW, following your instructions worked great. Thanks!

I believe you need to always program in a channel, I don't think there is a way to use it as a VFO.

No problem that's what we are here for. Should have seen me 6 months ago trying to figure out how to program the Pro-97 for trunking, I can do it in my sleep now.

Me to, I keep trying to enter 36.24.36, and keep getting errors. :)

I think that works better in a Bikini than a scanner.

I live by a major interstate. I think that I should be able to pick up some kind of CB chatter. I tune to the frequencies that I read were the CB ones and they're all quiet all the time. Will this scanner not pick it up? Ideas?

I have a question about setting frequencies.
The manual for the pro-97 is sort of clear, but can you have conventional frequencies and trunked freuencies in the same bank.

Thank yo

Yes you can. If the trunked system in question is an EDACS system, it must be entered first. You can fill in any unused channels in the bank with conventional channels.
