I visited that site as well but I did not see the Beartracker 885 listed at all.

I just watched a YouTube review of teh 885 by Paul Opitz (aka: Upman) and in the begining Paul mentions the microphone supplied with the 885 is identical to the one that comes with the 880 C.B. So it appears donc13 is correct.

Yup, and it would be pins 1 and 4 that need jumpered.... Easy test, jumper with bare wire/paperclip (but don't touch the chassis or threaded portion of the mic connector). Audio should improve immediately.

I'm amazed a microphone wiring schematic isn't shown in the user manual for the 885, it's not! Changing the microphone is one of the most common things people do with their C.B. I spent considerable time doing Google searches and although a few hits looked related but nothing was definitive.

Be careful I did read where some of these new microphone jacks do have live 12VDC that could cause damage if it's shorted out or jumpered to the wrong circuit.
Thank you

Thank you, but it's a 6 pin, not 4.

donc13, what does the radio diagram in your post 21 belong to?
Also, I see the 885 can use Uniden's wireless mic. The same mic my Uniden 980 uses, it's a 6 pin so I *presume* the wiring is the same

(pin 2 to pin 5 jumper for receive audio)

880 and 980 mic wiring layout.
STOCK MIC PINOUTS;
PIN COLOR FUNCTION
1: Yellow Audio HOT
2: BLACK RX switching
3: RED TX switching
4: N/C
5: SHIELD
6: 7.8VDC phantom power for power mic*

WIRING OF MIC CABLE:
1. Modulation
2. RX
3. TX (Up/Down)
4.
5. Ground
6. Power Supply
