If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,

I picked up these radios for cheap on Amazon as most people do. I downloaded the CHIRP software for Mac (latest version) and the USB driver PL2303_MacOSX_1.6.0_20151022.zip to use with a BaoFeng USB programming cable.

I was able to reprogram my 16 channels to GMRS for which I have a license for. After uploading my new data to one radio, I cannot plug another radio and upload. It goes into the Spinning Ranibow ball mode on my Mac. I force quite and restart chirp and it seems like the CHIRP program is non responsive. I have to REBOOT my computer again before I can upload to another radio. So if I have 4 radios, I have to REBOOT 4 times to upload each radio. Why does it do this? Is it the driver issue? I'm running El Capitan on my Mac.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated. :)

I agree it's a pain to have to re-boot, but you could have done it and be finished by the time you wrote this and wait for a reply,.

That radio is not certified as FCC Part 95 and is illegal to use on GMRS even if you did buy your license. It would be easier to just buy a proper legally certified GMRS radio to begin with that already is programmed.
