Greetings

Just got my new scanner(bcd-996p2), City system is 800MHZ / p25 phase 1....... I have entered the "red" control freq. all good!, I am receiving all city transmissions, fire/ems/public works/school dept, etc.

HERE IS WHERE IM STUCK! I am programming through the unit, not external software etc.

How do I program just what i want to hear?
example: Fire dispatch (TG) 2049
Ems dispatch (TG) 2081, etc.
I dont care about the sewer dept, cemetery etc.

I just don't know how to enter 2049, 2081 and what others I may want to hear.

New here, sorry

I lied! One more question..... If my city is using mdc1200, I am not hearing it, is there something I have to select in settings? Audio?

Nashua and Manchester both use P25 Phase 1 trunked systems in addition to conventional frequencies in Hillsborough County.
Like you, I did all of my programming manually before I discovered how much easier it is to use software. It is great to know how to enter something into the scanner or troubleshoot it when a computer isn't available. I use Butel ARC XT Basic software to program my BCD325P2 and BCD996P2. You can also use ProScan. Both have a free trial period to decide which one you like better. If you do not have the DMR or NXDN upgrades for your scanner, you can use FreeSCAN which is free. FreeSCAN does not support DMR or NXDN but will handle anything your scanner can do without the upgrades.

If you decide to use software, you will need to install the driver for the scanner so your computer will be able to communicate with it. I have ARC XT files for Hillsborough County which you can use to program your scanner. I can convert them to FreeSCAN or ProScan files.

I would recommend Proscan and getting a RadioReference membership a lot easier to pick what frequencies you want and what order u want them
