Help With CSP

I just bought a bc396 handheld this past thursday and i'm trying to make up for the obvious 2-3 years i've lost in technical knowledge i am behind . I have been programming trunked systems into it pretty fine but one problem is the state police. I programmed the frequencies and added a few talkgroups to see if it would pickup locally but i have heard zero in the past day. What have I done wrong I know its P25 and all but when it asks what system i think i put MOT then P25. Can anyone see the error in my ways? My next idea was to make a nother system and try control only and see what happens.

CSP is not a P25 system. In the 396 you have set it up as a Motorola Type II system.

Like Mark said, set it up as a type II in your digital scanner. The system is not P-25 but transmits in digital.
