To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm having trouble getting into the programming mode on my Jaguar 700P. I have pressed the 3 side buttons and turned on the radio and radio will not go into the programming mode. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks

You may try plugging in the programming box. You may also try leaving the radio off, hitting the program button and letting it fail, then try putting the radio in program mode.

I have had this problem in the past, one or the other has usually worked for me.

when you say it will not go into program mode, what does the radio display show? are you using the M/A Com RIB or another brand, or are you using a ribless cable?

Re-Jaguar Programming.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I sent the radio back where i bought it from It's still under warranty. I tried another Jaguar and got into the programming mode with no problems. I will see what happens when i get my radio back from the shop.

Thanks to all for your help.

I'm having the same trouble. Just got the radio and I can't get it into programming mode.
I tried to create a "Key Hold Error" on each of the three keys. The PTT does not produce the error, the other two keys do. This would indicate a PTT problem except if I bring up the radio in normal mode and then press PTT I head a beep everytime I press PTT...indicating that PTT does in fact work!
Anyone have an explanation for this!?!?!?

The PTT problem is known to Macom. There is a rubber seal under the PTT lever and the rubber is getting soft from the glue on a double sided sticky pad. The replacement kit is part number SPK0104. That includes a new sticky pad, the rubber piece and a new PTT lever. Cost is about $11 I believe but you may be able to get it done at your local shop for free if you mention that Macom has issued tech memos on it. TSM28-14A applies to J700p an P7100 (replacement kit G4UK07720)

But what do you do if there is no "local" shop? We all know M/A-Com will not sell to end users, so are people in that catagory just SOL?

My local m/a-com shop will sell me anything I want...but I do the parts research first and just give them the part number I need rather than ask them to research it.

I've never tried to buy a whole radio from them, though. They might not do that, depending

on the type of radio.

But I guarantee they'd sell me VHF or UHF radios without any hesitation, as they have no
contract customers on VHF or UHF so there's no chance of those radios being used to
cause problems for those customers.

ptt

You can pop off the plastic cover and press the rubber button, I have had to do this on several fire portables, to get them to program. They use speaker mic's and do not notice the ptt problem.
