I am a new member from Coaldale and wondering if anyone in the Lethbridge area would be willing to give me a little instruction in scanning. I bought a Bearcat BCD325P2. Not sure if that is good or not.
I would be willing to compensate you for your time. David email: info@wearpoints.com

Looks like you are on your own in typical warm Canadian fashion. Welcome
Start with the basics , determine your listening interest. If it is Lethrbridge & area Police , that system is PROVOICE Edacs, you could only hear the analog side of it which according to the list is not much, even fire are digital , that scanner not compatible with upgrade made available on other scanner to allow you to hear digital, start with the basics figure out how to program via PC with free software:http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/FreeScan_User_Guide3
than try a few conventional channels see here:
Lethbridge County, Alberta (AB) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
Coaldale Emerg Services 151.145 MHZ than you can try the conventional RCMP channels while they last in your area 155 Mhz see above:
learning curve is always steep but generally speaking everyone hear has gone thru the pull your hair out , turn 50 shades of grey etc, but persevere and you can be rewarded.
Use this as well :Easier to Read BCD325P2 Digital Scanner Manual
Good luck as questions away .

I thought this is essentially a newer version of the BCD396XT - so it is a digital scanner

The easy to read manual posted above is great to figure out how it works - take the time to work through it and ask away when you have questions!

The BCD325P2 is a good scanner for P25, but it won't offer Provoice decoding. Presently only the BCD436HP offers that capability if an upgrade is purchased.
