help with Reecom 1650C

so i bought this unit off ebay looks brand new not a lick of dust or dirty anyplace .. set it all up and it was great test come day .. no test now last night i turned it on to listen to weather and nothing .. i had AM and FM but no WX freqs as i tried them all i confirmed with other radios the stations were transmitting and Reecom got nothing i took bats out unpluged for the night and now it seems to get WX in again ... is this a issue with these radios? or did i yet again get a broken radio that has to go back

I think it is like my TV, sometimes the tuner does a wigout and lose signal, but step the channel and back, all is good.
Like a reset for the tuning.
