Troop 7 what? It would be helpful to state where you are (county and state or providence) as well as what scanner you are trying to use. the organization that troop 7 is part of would also help other people help you out.

None of us are trying to be nosy, just that there are thousands of radio systems across the US and Canada and a similar number of radio systems location and organization helps a lot in findign the 'right' one. likewise different scanners are 'programmed' differently.

SC HP Troop 7 is on the Palmetto P-25 System https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5042

and you will need a Scanner that will support P-25 Digital Communication.

Your 996T will work fine on the Palmetto 800 (P25) system, if you have the correct control channel(s) programmed. You do not need to set a band-plan for P25 systems.
