The first question that should have been asked is WHAT FREQUENCY IS THE SC HOOL USING? If it's either 154.5700 or 154.6000 the entire discussion is MOOT because you DON'T NEED A LICENSE FOR THOSE TWO FREQUENCIES. Plus the narrowbanding requirement is ONLY for 151.8200, 151.8800 and 151.9400!

Anyways, if someone there gives you permission, it's probably going to be fine. The guys in black suits driving the DF Ford Explorers aren't going to come knocking on your door or mailing you a NAL.

Yeh, when stuff gets blown out of proportion then things happen, but your right, I've seen stuff like that where people think that if its okay and dont get caught once, then they do it again

I havent. Yeh, I have a GP68 but I never transmitted on any frequencies which are licensed bands.
I use mine for ham and occasionally, switch to low power 1 watt and go on MURS. thats why I have GP68

I'm helping my high school park cars for a local event in town. they use the schools radios. Would it be ok if i programed my radio to talk on their frequency?

This is covered by section 90.421 of the Commission's regulations. In general, "yes," provided you have express approval from the licensee and (b) your radio, when added to the mobile radios already in use by the licensee, does not exceed the number of mobiles for which the licensee is licensed. However, you should read the regulation for the specifics.

Not all radios are legal on that frequency and the OP never said that is what he was using.

The OP is a drive-by poster. Post once something semi-controversial and then never post again while the rest of us argue about technicalities that this kid could really care less about. He's already got some kind of radio and he's going to use it no matter what we say. I really think threads like this should be locked if the OP doesn't at least respond within a reasonable period of time. If not, we go on for page after page beating the same dead horse.
