I believe,But can't swear to it that the non public safety agencies primarily use cell phone's. I talked to a highways worker that said at one time they used mobile data terminal's, but now just cell phone's.

Testing out a friend's Uniden SDS200 - not getting anything in Hernando .... only occasional traffic from Citrus. Certainly NOT investing $600-$700 in a new scanner to listen from home, that's for sure.

Not 100%... But I did go get the lastest updates from Uniden via the Sentinel app and loaded it to the radio. Then I selected by Zip Code.

Just a guess. You may want to try limiting your coverage area setting down to maybe 5/10 mile's. In the set range option. Play around with it. You may want to consider a sds-100 instead <if you decide to buy one>.

Give this Hernando County favorites list file a try for the P25 system. Save the attached zipped file to your compter and extract. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it: Hernando Co FL Click on OK. In the Downloads folder, open the extracted file. It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel. The blank department is there to prevent getting the dreaded "Nothing to Scan" message in the event you turn off all of the department quick keys. Department quick keys as follows.

DEPT QUICK KEYS:
0. HernCo Fire/Rescue
1. HernCo Fire Alert
2. HernCo Fire Training
3. HernCo Med/Hospital
*. HernCo Blank
(Note: * = None)

Hernando County System Update:

All HCFES ( Fire Rescue ), including Rescue/ Medic to Hospital, are in the clear. Bayflite 4 is also dispatched on our system.
All HCSO ( Sheriff`s Office ) are Encrypted, but one Talk Group ( HCSO All Call ) can only hear the Dispatcher.

I hope this helps!

Hi all, I am trying to pick up the system in the south part of the county "off County Line Rd," but I am not having much luck. I am only using a rubber duck antenna though. Can this system be received in the southern part of the county with rubber duck? I appreciate any help you can give me.

Hello Everyone. I was doing some research on Hernando County and I see they are getting a P25 System. I was wondering if anyone had any new information or progress about this system. I see on 09/01/2021 Call sign WNFW960 was granted. It is listed as YE, (800Mhz Trunked System) Could this be the new P25 system? There is nothing that I see at all in the database about a new system for Hernando. I'm just wondering if anyone has any updates on it.
Thank you!

EDIT: This has been turned into the master system thread for Hernando County.
The WACN you list decodes as WNFW which answers your question.
(Note only some P25 systems use that coding scheme to come up with a WACN.)
