Hernando County (4F3B and P25 00A.91F69)

I've upgraded to a 996P2, and added it to my feed for Hernando County. The old 800mhz system is just repeating the LEO portion of the new 700mhz feed, so it made no sense to keep both. Any input from anyone listening is always welcome

I have pulled the little bit of hair I have left out,trying to figure this issue thru. Did you set the "edit band plan" ? . I am totally convinced that fire-rescue is encrypted. Never felt radio dumb before. Thank you for your help.

All Fire/EMS & Sheriff Dispatch are not encrypted as of today. Just some Sheriff Tac channels.
I've been listening on a BCD436HP. Are you using a 996P2?

I would wait to see what happens before you drop that big $$$$ on one. I would do some homework see if there is any bugs/problems.

I work Hernando Fire Rescue. Admin expressed they had no reason to pay for encryption. It serves no purpose in what we do.

Hadn't listened to Hernando in a few weeks. Tuned in today and the SO was ENC on PATROL-1.

Add them to the list of counties I won't spend a penny in unless it's an emergency.

Turned on the sds100, and my 996P2, and Hernando sheriff is gone on 800mhz. I'm picking up broken transmissions of the Sherifff on the new P25 system.
Fire comes in good.

What a bummer, Hernando County has gone totally silent for me. My Whistler WS1040 won't do Phase II and now the SO has everything Encrypted I don't see much reason to invest in a new scanner.

You could pick up an RTL-SDR v3 kit for $43.95 off of Amazon and download SDRTrunk to listen to Fire Rescue. If you are also close you could listen to Citrus County comms as well.

Thanks. I have a nice SDRPlay but have never looked if it will do trunking with any kind of add-on. Will look into that for sure.
