I'm a long-time scanner enthusiast but haven't been too active in the hobby lately or bought any new equipment in several years. I'm hoping to pick up on news of what's going on now in the scanner world from the members here. I found a couple new frequencies listed for my area already and have them programmed into my scanner.

I remember the first time I heard a police scanner back in the 70's on a Saturday night at a friends house and have been hooked since. At one point I ran a bank of 5 scanners at a time with 3 outdoor antenna but now only occasionally listen to my Pro-60 on weekends or late at night. I still have a Pro-2036 too but need to get some contact cleaner to loosen up some sticky buttons on it. There really hasn't been a move to trunked or digital systems in my area so my old equipment still serves me well.

I remember climbing up on the roof during the dead of winter to work on one of my outdoor antenna and my fingers being so cold I wondered if I was going to be able to make it back down the ladder. :) I live in a small apartment now and can't have one on the roof or something hanging out my window.

I have a DX-394 too but it's nearly useless with the telescopic antenna it comes with, though I did win a contest on the Taipei Taiwan station when I was running a dipole.

Thanks for the welcome and the heads-up on narrowbanding, it's been about 10 years since I did any serious scanning. My PRO-2036 has variable steps for entering frequencies and may be able to handle at least some of the new ones. I'm not sure if any have been implemented in this area yet though and will have to take a closer look to make sure.
