I just moved from Tennessee to Bonaire Ga and was new to the area and was wondering if any individuals could give me the frequencies for the ambulance and police in my area which is Houston county. I looked under the database but I dont have a scanner capable of receiving trunking frequencies. If you could is there some info or links that would help me find these channels or do you scanner listeners have your own list that you could share with me? In closing I would just like to say hello everyone and look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks

You need a Digitial one here, but you can pick up the surrounding counties.
Peach,Twiggs and Dooly are analog systems.

Welcome to the GA forum. Looking at what is going down as far as conventional vs. analog trunking, and digital trunking--you will need a digital scanner to follow what is going on in your county, as well as, the surrounding counties:(
Sorry for giving you this news. I am sure that if you put your non-trunking scanner into limit/search mode, You will be able to find something to monitor. Georgia is in transition from conventional and analog trunking (with the exception of counties that don't want to change how they communicate), to digital trunking along with digital conventional.
You didn't say what your model your scanner is. Unfortunately, where I live in Metro-Atlanta, it is digital trunking, or, conventional. Had to make the decision about 4 years ago to get a digital trunktracker. Upgraded that scanner to one of the newer digital radios. Have not been disappointed at all.

Thanks claymac44

I appreciate the info you gave me and I went to policescanning.com i beleive this is the website and I can get a scanner there that you were telling me about and I also have the option for them to program it with the frequencies I need. It is wonderful to get to talk to you and I hope we can keep in touch on a regular basis about scanning wonderful Georgia. I was wondering do you happen to have the 10 codes for the counties and cities that I am close to? I sure hope you have a list that you may could email me if you dont already have my email address? I am not a good speller sorry because i type too fast, lol. When I was living in TN I had a list of the 10 codes and have realized that they differ from GA a lot; for example a 10-15 in TN means prisoner in custody but listening to Twiggs county it means something else. Once again its good to hear from you and I sure will take your advice on buying that trunking scanner. And my scanner model is a BC145 XL. I have a bearcat base scanner with 16 channels but unfortunately no search method is on it. I used to have a bearcat handheld; I think it was a SC150B. I still have it but it needs to be repaired. Do you know of any businesses in GA that deal with repairing scanners? If I could get this one repaired it would help serve my needs because it has search capabilities and 200 channels. Hope to hear from you; have a good weekend.

hi claymac

I dont think you received my last reply when i responded to what you told me so i will give you my email address so you can contact me about scanners that way. It is jerryholt74@yahoo.com. Drop me a line and I will tell you my scanner model that I have because I posted a reply but dont think they approved so it didnt get posted. I only gave my email address and as far as I know that isnt against the rules here.

Your scanner should pick up GSP, Peach, Dooly, Twiggs, Crawford and Jones Counties as well as Byron and Ft. Valley PD. Mine does

Someone else may know where to get yours repaired.

I don't know if its worth going $500 for a digital scanner with the Houston simulcast system. My Pro 96
does not like it.

If it can pickup Mil UHF, the base is right here.

Hope this helps some

Consider this

If it can pickup Mil UHF, the base is right here.

Warner Robbins is 400Mhz trunked system. He has a conventional, analog scanner. I believe the SC150 doesn't do 400Mhz trunking. Go to Radio Shack and get one of the newer analog trunk tracking scanners that are on sale: Pro-163/164. They do 400Mhz trunktracking and mil-air too. Save up for the digital and get it later. You will have enough to scan with the other scanner:)

Robins AFB is 400 but Warner Robins city is on Houston Cnty's 800 system.

Remember, his 150 is not working. He has a 148 which won't work on any trunked system. My bad, for not seeing that the City of Warner Robbins was 800 trunked:) And by the time he pays to get it repaired, if he can find a shop, he's better off getting a new 163,164 that has the rebanding in it and the plus of listening to milair too! They program with the Win97 software and the RS USB Cable part# 20-047.
