My DX394 has the ability to use either HiZ or LowZ antennas. Which is better a LowZ end fed or HiZ wire. If HiZ how long can the wire be
Thanks

Hi Z would be a long wire say 400 -1000 Ohms
and low z would be a 50 Ohm Coax Fed Dipole at 50 Ohm impedance
As for an antenna Take 468 Divide by the Frequency and that gives you a half wave use 234 for a 1/4 wave. The answer is in Feet
you can times 12 to give you inches.
An example would be 234 / 27.500 Mhz = 8.5 feet or times 12 = 102 inches You can times by 2 to make a Half Wave instead of 468.
this formula works for all bands for a simple antenna.
Throwing out a random lenth of wire will work but you will get better results cutting to the frequency you want.
