I just purchased this scanner, created my favorites list and things are up & running. My problem is the Marcs channels come in clear but the other frequencies come in real scratchy while my other uniden scanners get these same frequencies clear. I have tried different antennas with no luck. Any suggestions? I am ready to box it up and send it back.

Yes,if you are using the HP-1 and you have lots of electronics in the room,shut the other electronics off,if thats not possible consider an outdoor antenna,this thing is very sensitive and picks up computer generated noise,I did notice MAC computers are the worst at being noise makers,not bad computers,just not RF sheilded.So if you keep Hp1 away from the noise makers it is a great little scanner.I programmed mine the same as my 996XT and it works exactly the same.A friend of mine lives in Orange,NJ and his town is on 477MHZ he can not even hear his own town with the MAC on.Shut it off and its perfect!Make sure the Attenuator is not on,that was my first issue with this thing,red light means ON.

Make sure the attenuator is OFF.

If using the same antenna, same freq. as others, you probably have a "bad" one. I have 2 and they are as good as any others I have or have had. IMHO

I don't monitor Guernsey Co. much - other that what rolls thru on MARCS - little low band left but still a lot of VHF.

yeah even if you just get an sma mount with a long mini coax you should be better.
I use a Base Comet Gp15 and mine works like a dream.

1. I have 33.9000 set up on my favorites list but the scanner never stops on it even though my other scanner picks it up clear
2. My other scanner also picks up non-Marcs channels 2-3 seconds before the home patrol does?????

I've had the same problems. I've noticed that I have to fiddle with the squelch to find the sweet spot on mine (mostly for 800mhz).

Are you using a favorite or the entire database? If the entire DB what range setting?

Even with a range setting of zero you probably are loading 5 or more sites = maybe even 10. You can not receive all that it will load, but it will scan them which slows it down. You probably need 3 at most, maybe just 1.

You need to create a favorite and delete all sites that are not needed

It could be you dont have that service type enabled,by default the HP1 well mine anyway just has EMS and a few other types enabled,hit Service type on the main screen and make sure FIRE dispatch,Law dispatch ,etc are orange or enabled.The factory antenna is not really a low band antenna,for low band you need a longer whip or an outdoor multiband,if thats not possible try a mobile scanner antenna.Sometimes they put the wrong PL in the database make sure with someone you have the right one (that ones a long shot but could be)
