Homepatrol purchased

Hi! I purchased a homepatrol for my father in law and figured this was the easiest since none of know anything about programming a scanner. We seem to pick up everything except El Paso, TX city police and fire and I don't know why. I have tried changing the zip code, making the area wider, etc. and nothing works. I have even tried to enter the frequencies I see on here for radio reference and they don't seem to 'stick" to the favorites. I do believe I am adding them correctly, but they don't scan or give us any information. He listens to a scanner 24/7 and I really want to get this fixed for him ASAP.

Do I need to find some software to update this? When I try to do that before it states the software that is on the system is the latest, so I don't know anymore.

Can someone please help me to get El Paso, TX police and fire on this scanner so he will be a happy man and earn this new daughter in law some points? <smile>

What is the date of the database in your Home Patrol?

From the main screen on the Home Patrol, select MENU --> ADVANCED MENU --> scroll down arrow --> VERSION INFORMATION

What does it say there for the date of the database?

El Paso is on a EDACS ProVoice Exclusive system which can not be received by any current scanner.

I'm picking up scanner tomorrow from my father in law so I will reply with database info and try to get him as much as I can. I'm sad we won't hear the City.

Hi. I have firmware version 2.03 and database version: 12/12/11.

Your database is almost 2 years out of date. Time to update.

Current database is 11/17/2013. Updates are made available every week, usually on Mondays.

You can certainly add any channels you want by using favorites lists.

Look in your Sentinel program under Help ---> Contents --> Favorites lists.

The extreme upgrade is not necessary for that.

The City of El Paso has decided to drop public safety communications from this system due to unforeseen problems with coverage. The system will stay implemented for city services such as Sun Metro, the Airport, Convention Center and the Public Works Department. Some talkgroups will be digital and others will be analog. For now, the airport talkgroups, and convention center talkgroups are active.
