Looking for a little info I couldn't find in the forums or in the user manual provided on-line.

1. How many unique FAVORITE lists are possible?

2. Is it possible to create Freq/Agencies that are located great distances from each other. Specifically, I am looking to put state wide Highway patrol freq's into a single list. This way as I drive from one side of the state to another, I don't have to update my location.

3. How long does the battery last?

1. IIRC it is to the limit of the 2 GB memory card. In any case, it is hundreds if not thousands. (Actual spec is at work and I'm not there.)

2. That would not be a problem.

3. While I have heard reports of 9 hours, 4 hours is much more typical.

2. Yes on create, but I haven't traveled yet to test GPS with the HP. Today I finished my first long-range Fav/Grp. I named it TRAVEL I-10, and It contains any FD or LE site, dept, or channel that I might want to listen to within 25 miles, or so, of I-10 from Phoenix to L.A. Hopefully the GPS will turn these on and off as I pass through them. Find them in the "Total DB and "append" to your Fav/Grp and set avoids to get rid of all those departments and channels (that you don't want) that will come along in the "appends" . Leave the full DB alone.

I would suggest running off the cig/plug, getting an external antenna, and unless your vehicle is a Mercedes or similar (very quite) I would suggest an external powered speaker (run it off the earphone plug). I've only had this radio a few days so my ideas are extremely non-expert.

1. Well, it took me an afternoon to set up TRAVEL I-10 (lol) so at 71 years old I probably won't have time to fill it up.

Follow up:

1. Since the computer sees the radio as a removable drive, I thought "Hmm, I wonder if Windows Explorer/Properties would show the used/unused parts of the drive?" Yes it does! The whole DB (USA/CANADA) together with my two large Fav/Grps and together with any program running the radio, Properties shows a whopping ~6% of the available space has been used.

If the program is a smarty and only points to the original, full DB and does not actually have to make copies of all the hundreds of channels in one's possible multiple Fav/Grps, I don't see how it could ever be filled that way. But now, recording is probably a whole different story.

How does the favorite list work?? does the HP give the favs priority? since i loaded favs the scanner has really started working like i think it should.

When you select a favorites list, HP-1 scans only the channels in that list.

UPMan, Thanks for help with the HP, since i setup the system list and a fav list from DB the HP has come Alive, thanks for all your help and suggestions, i get real flustrated when i spend so much and i have a problem.

How many freqs can I sore in a user created favorites list? Can I buil that list of Freqs that I manually enter in such as CB channels or something like that?
