HomePatrol2 help?

Anybody n the south central area good with the Home Patrol? As I've made clear in the past, I am not a Uniden fan. One of our EMS people brought theirs in and it is deaf as a post on KSICS, but it hears McPherson County EDACS just fine. It looks like all the sites and talkgroups are entered correctly, but it won't pick up anything local. What am I missing?

Some of the KSICS sites are simulcast, which is kryptonite to the HomePatrols and many other scanner models.

Indeed, simulcast distortion is one of the most discussed issues on these forums & is a real bugger to mitigate on a non-SDS scanner

Well I really have no idea what I did or didn't do, but after messing with it for a couple of hours all of a sudden it started working. Did I mention I strongly dislike Unidens?

Good job. Perhaps you'll like them a bit more when they start picking up what you want to hear

In the database, Fire Dispatch is the only talkgroup showing for McPherson County on the KSICS system. If you have additional info, it would be appreciated to submit it to the database..

Nope. She had the EDACS system in there and thats what it is picking up. I warned her that the new Harris P25 system will be 100% encrypted but I suspect city and rural Fire will still be using KSICS for interop. So to answer your question, there is no further info on McPherson County for KSICS. But I also encouraged her to look for a Whistler or Radio Shack replacement.

Neither Radio Shack or Whistler will pick up encryption, and they are just as bad or worse at simulcast.

Who said anything about picking up encryption? But they are a heck of a lot easier to program and use.
