It has finally happened Horry county has went over to dark side it's a sad day been listening for over 40 years since the late great VHF days
Sad!
Every time I come down there, its gotten more and more disappointing as the years went on. I hated the fire "alert" but at least you heard a quick announcement of what the call was for which was nice, it was better than nothing. I heard you can't even hear that anymore. I did find the PD channels to be very interesting especially during the busy holidays! I personally never really listened to MBPD or NMBPD I usually only listened the the county PD. I will miss that! Sad!

Encryption is a reality we can’t do anything about. Chicago PD provides their dispatch feeds online to the public, although its on a 30 minute delayed basis, which in the not too distant future will likely be all that’s available to us, IF we’re lucky! However, it won’t happen all by itself, which is to say, if these agencies are even amenable to the idea of signing off on such a request to begin with. Lol! Hey, there’s only one way to find out and that of course means introducing yourselves to local city council members and presenting them with the idea. A compromise, if you will. The perps don’t get tipped off that they’re about to be hit in real time as a result of the delay and the public still gets the opportunity to listen and have greater appreciation for a job that about 99% of the public wouldn’t even dream of wanting in the first place. Still, there’s the issue of running SS numbers over the air, even with the delayed feed and that’ll remain problematic, not only for law enforcement on the local and state level but on the federal level as well.

We can only hope that Horry doesn't do like the county I live in as far as transparency on being encrypted there was a manhunt yesterday where I live and there was a lockdown at a school in the area all day and nothing was said about it on my local news because of them being encrypted
