Got my new scanner antenna mounted on my roof and finally got something! 33.3 comes in perfectly and I'm about 10 miles away....does anyone know though if there are detectors on tracks 1 and 2? I haven't heard either of those, yet the detector on track 3 comes in perfect.

I'm here a lot
VHF -High band is offering good listening conditions at the moment.
I'm pulling in WX on 162.500 located in Youngstown,Ohio from Toronto , so Rail listening should be at it's optimum now.

There's a CN detector on 161.415 at mile 39 of the Halton subdivision, just north of Milton at Manswood I believe. Loud and clear here, but then I'm only a couple of miles south. I can here a detector saying "331", "332" and "333" from here too but at a ,uch lower signal strength.

For me its strange because I would think that the detector would broadcast each track reading at the same level....after putting up the new antenna I always hear 333, 331 very very rarely (and if I do its very very faint), and 332 very very rarely (again very faint if not less than 331). I also get a couple CP detectors loud and clear in Hamilton.

The reason you are hearing 333 more then then other 2 track is because its the main line through the western end of Burlington (Aldershot area). 332 and 331 are mains as well but the 3rd track is the most commonly used. Last year when CN had that large derailment there blocking the third track 331 was all you would hear in that 24 hour period during the cleanup.

As for the CP detectors I'm guessing mile 44.9 and 71.2 on the Hamilton Sub?

As for the CP detectors I've only heard the one at 71.2 clearly, the other one came in but not so well. With the CN ones, I need to one day post a recording of what I mean...its not that I hear the ones at 331 and 332, its just that when they do come in they are very very faint (I was trying to listen when trains were passing by them using ATCS monitor). As for the 33.3 one, it has consistently come in clearly since I've put up the new dedicated antenna.
